Product Review: CURLS for Target Goddess Curls

Ugh. If you're on Twitter, you may have seen me tweeting about my experience with CURLS for Target. I've heard bad things about it... yet I still bought it lol.

I've been on the search for a good curl definer and the idea of having "goddess curls" seemed good to me lol. Several weeks ago I bought the curls moisturizer, CURLS for Target Lavish Curls, which is a spray to refresh your curls. It didn't work well really, so I figured it was probably because it's supposed to refresh curls that have been obtained by using Goddess Curls. So I went back to buy the gel.

Here's my experience, in pictures!

I started by washing my hair with the Jojoba Cleansing Milk from Brendita's Body Works!

Since I had just recently done my weekly washing/conditioning, I used this cheapie conditioner, just for the sake of trying to get rid of it lol.

Next I used my handy dandy Aussie leave-in!

Then I started applying the Goddess Curls. The pump helped with applying. So they get a thumbs up on that. lol

Here's my hair after applying it.

Here's my hair after drying. -_- There really was no change lol

Conclusion: FAIL TO THE CURLS FOR TARGET LINE! I've heard great things about their actual line but have been told that they cheapened the quality of their products when they introduced them to Target customers. Ugh. My hair was a MESS after using this! Normally I can salvage product-trials-gone-bad, but my hair felt so dry after this! I ended up having to co-wash and put it in my 2 big flat twists. *shakes fist at CURLS for Target*. As I'm typing this, I'm researching Target's return policy. I'm thinking about returning it.

Has anyone else tried CURLS for Target? What are you all's thoughts on the line?

Um, I think, just on the strength of reading this, that I'll pass. But on a positive note, your hair looks very healthy and i like the color!

I tried this once - fail.
But I used it again to set my flat twists for a twist out & it came out ok! I'll probably use it up just to set my flat twist [ & i'll probably keep them in for a day or two before i take the out, too ]

but yea, i doubt i'll re buy this again.

I tried the shampoo. I can't remember why I didn't try the other products but I believe the conditioner has alcohol in it and most things with alocohol are guaranteed to dry my hair.

--I used the Curls Curlada Coconut Conditioner and it works great. Leaves my hair very soft. this is the only product from the line that I use...

I had the same results on wet hair, but it actually is pretty good at smoothing down dry hair and controlling the frizzies! i can get a nice, neat bun with tamed edges by using it, so that's definitely worth keeping a bottle around!
